A Quick Post Before Bedtime(Pleasant Nightmares!)...

Nothing special, just my first Haunted House Sound-Effects record. Not the first one I ever heard of course- those I heard while trick-or-treating my misspent youth away. No, this was a present from my parents for surviving my appendectomy at age 11. I'm not sure what happened to my original copy. I've since picked up a couple more but this is not a rip or image of either of them- I got this from(name withheld to protect the blaaahhhggger), lazy bones that I am. The main thing is that The Sounds Remain The Same...

You thought there was going to be a HUGE explosion, didn't you? (A classic!)

i almost busted my stitches laughing listening to the howl at the end of the first track- i never was so amused and terrified at the same time!

Wow....I had that exact same record growing up. Remember listenig to it quite a bit. Can't wait to check it out again and see what memories it drags up. Great post!

¡bienvenido!...

My buddy and I had the entire "ghost" track (the one with that long howl at the end) memorized and we could "recite" it together as a duo flawlessly. Yes, we had a lot of time on our hands apparently. I still remember it too!

wow, you don't have a recording of your "recital", do you?...

Brian D. Horrorwitz said...

Unfortunately no. Maybe some day I'll try to re-create it.

I actually enjoy picking up bits of the soundtrack in more recent recordings; Halloween at High Noon had a tiny bit of the alien invasion track on one of the songs. It really took me back.

you should check out the film Teenagers From Outer Space, it uses all these cues and more and is worth watching just for the music(but i love the whole movie).

I have Teenagers... in my ever-growing "To Be Watched" DVD pile. I'll have to check it out some year!

actually it's the music in "Night" that shows up in "Teenagers", i got confused as to which post we were talking about!...

Brian D. Horrorwitz said...

Oh yeah! I've heard the "Night..." music in a few movies.

They still use the pissy cat screams in practically EVERYTHING.

I took this to school in 3rd grade for show and tell and got in trouble because Cathy Wagner got too scared by it and started crying in class. Bitch.

was it a dark and stormy uh, day?...

This is great...I used to have this as a boy as well. Do you happen to have the LP of the Haunted Mansion story? The one where the two teenagers (one played by Ron Howard) have to spend the night in the old Haunted House? I had that one as a kiddo too!

The Disney Haunted Mansion? i'm not sure, let me check...
